This section of the website captures the story of our Pemberton home—its creation, its character, and the way it continues to evolve with us. We moved in in April 2025 after nearly three years of planning and building, starting from nothing more than a blank sheet of paper and a shared question: If we were to design the home of our dreams, what would it look like? The result is a place we love deeply—a home that reflects our lifestyle, the beauty of the Southern Forests, and the warmth of the community around us.
Here you’ll find the ongoing journey of our gardens: the native plantings, the orchard and vineyard, the seasonal shifts, the trials, the experiments, and the quiet successes. Like us, the gardens are still growing—reshaping themselves year by year, becoming richer, fuller, and more alive with every season. This space documents that evolution, celebrating the joy of creating something lasting and rooted in place.
We are in the Pemberton Home
We moved into our Pemberton home in April 2025, finally stepping into a dream that took nearly three years to build. We tried to downsize—and failed miserably. The house began as a blank sheet of paper and a simple question: If we were to build the home of our dreams, what would it look like? From that vision came a place we truly love. The community, the lifestyle, and the rhythm of the Southern Forests have all become part of our everyday joy. The gardens remain a living project—growing, changing, and evolving year by year—as we continue shaping the spaces around us into something that feels both personal and deeply connected to this land.
We have a roof on the Pemberton home

Work on the roof of our Pemberton, Western Australia home is now complete (just in time for the rain season). Work on the interior has now commenced and will last approximately 4-6 months. We continue to work with great local contractors to bring to life the plans from our landscape designer, Fiona Thompson. These plans includes planting and reticulation for hundreds of boundary trees, a greenhouse and vegetable garden area, and in the backyard, the construction of a games/fire pit area and the building of an arbour that will be framed by wisteria with purple flowers. Overall, we are enjoying the journey.
Bricklaying done…now time for the roof
Bricklaying was completed just before Christmas 2023. All came to a halt while people enjoyed their festive season break. In early January the timber for the roof was delivered, as well as the cladding that will cover some of the brickwork. Work on the roof will commence in late January or early February 2024.

Prior to construction of the roof, scaffolding was erected on 25 January 2024.
