The journey of our film continues and the door to the Oscar’s remains open.
Our short film Enjoy Your Visit has been named an Official Selection of the 9th Annual Indy Shorts Film Festival, an Oscar-qualifying festival presented by Heartland Film in Indianapolis.
Following the World Premiere of Enjoy Your Visit earlier this year at the Cleveland International Film Festival, this second selection is another meaningful step on the road to Academy Award consideration. Being chosen for an Oscar-qualifying festival is not a guarantee of getting to the Academy Awards, but it means the film is good and worthy of consideration, and to me that is pretty powerful and something to be proud.
A Quick Reminder of the Story
Enjoy Your Visit is a darkly comic drama — funny, unsettling, and deeply human. Kara, an actress, gets a last-minute call to work at a living history museum — the home of President George Washington where she is cast as an enslaved housemaid. What follows is a series of encounters that force her toward an impossible choice: stay in character, or break it once and for all. It is a story about history, identity, complicity, and the quiet courage it takes to tell the truth, even when you are paid not to.
Tickets are now available for in-theatre and virtual screenings at www.IndyShorts.org.
With the wonders of technology, we can join this festival from anywhere in the world. The virtual pass makes that possible. Director, Erin Cramer, and the rest of the Enjoy Your Visit Team would love to know you are watching.
Gratitude
To our director, Erin Cramer; our cast, led by Shahadi Wright Joseph and Elizabeth Ward Land; our producers, Danae and Lauren; and fellow executive producer Steve Hammond—thank you. It has been such a pleasure to be on this journey with you.
I am proud of what we made together, and proud to keep cheering it on.
